Prologue - The Beginning
In the beginning were the Words.
The Words were the beginning and the beginning was the Words, speaking Creation into being.
Much later, when there were humans, some would transcribe the Words as lux fiat or imagine a computer program running the universe itself. These are poor analogies but can be useful tools for understanding.
After the beginning many things happened. None of them were thought important. Epochs of the universe came and went. Humans would measure some of them in billions of years, much later, when years and humans existed. But nobody was there to count and the eons came and went unheeded.
In the fullness of time, life spread across the Earth. Humans became more than animals. They needed to know the universe and for the universe to know them. That’s when interesting things started happening.
Shadows of the Words were drawn out of infinity into Creation. The Words are eternal but things within the universe are not, and some of them need protecting. For as long as this is so, the protectors will remain.
